A Passion for Print!
Welcome to my very first blog!
I've been really busy these past couple of weeks, getting together my new online presence to share my art and my new found love of printing.
Although I had tried printing in the form of lino and screen printing at both school and art college, I hadn't explored it since.
It was via pinterest and youtube that I learned all about monotype printing with a gelatin plate. Even better, I learned how to make my own plate for a fraction of the cost of a purchased one.
Commonly known as gelli printing, paints or inks are rollered onto the plate and objects are used to make marks and impressions.
I will go more into the process at a later date but here is one of the gelli prints I have made....
I decided to buy a block printing kit with the intention of making my own cards for Christmas, which is where I fell in love with lino printing in a big way!
By Christmas I had not only created my cards, I had printed all of my own wrapping paper, tote bags and tea towels!
Needless to say, I'm a little addicted as not a day has gone by when I haven't been working on a print!
So I hope you will join me on my artistic journey and hopefully I can inspire you to try out printing for yourself.
